GIBBSTOWN, NJ (August 8, 2009) – Kingsway Regional High School senior Alexis Pompey of Woolwich Township and Paulsboro High School senior Michelle Silvestro of Gibbstown are recipients of the first annual Dr. W. Michael Perrige, Jr. Medical Science Award, sponsored by W. Michael Perrige, Jr. DDS, 55 West Broad St., Gibbstown.

The award, valued at $300, was to be given to one senior from each of the two area high schools and selected by the school's administration based on the student's demonstrated academic success in high school and decision to seek higher education in the medical field.

Pompey will attend Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, Tallahassee, in the fall as a chemistry/pre-med major. Silvestro will attend Gloucester County College, Sewell, in the fall as a nursing major.

"The award is one way for us to support the community we serve in our dental office as well as young adults interested in pursuing a career in medicine," said W. Michael Perrige, Jr., DDS. Dr. Perrige has had a dental practice in Gibbstown for 22 years and resides in Woodbury with his family.
